My understanding is that KK was involved in both Karate(a belt or two below black) and Gymnastics when she was a teenager so she has somewhat of a background. She has done several martial arts type scenes in Smallville which the fans affectionately refer to as "LanaFu"

really? I've been an off and on watcher of smallville since the first season and I don't think I can recall any scenes in which she displayed martial arts training.
And even so, I hope she gets a whole lot more "cut" for the role of Chun Li. She's got a good figure now, but it's not an athletic figure.

There are a few vids on youtube showing KK fighing in SV. Granted that stunt people could have been used for some of these shots but there are a few that are definitly KK. Search under "lana fight"

yeah maybe your right about this particular image (I picked it because Chun is cute in this one), but if you look at some in-game footage, you can't say for sure "that's a chinese face" =/

all of you shut the fuck up and let the directors decide!.. AFter all their the ones who are going to take the effort in making it. You can just get your fat lazy ass on the sofa and watch it once released, and save your comments else where ! The director must have had tons of actors screening, with similar looks before make a final decision, not as easy as it seems, just pick a person lool its long procedures

Kelly Hu or Lucy Liu have been there for long, but that does not mean Kristin Kreuk will be any less of a actoress, she has potential. From a very young age has come onto the screen and her popularity is growing, and in few years will appear in more movies. Look at Ziyi Zhang she was from crouchin tiger, hidden dragon she not great in martial arts but is a good actress and has the right body for the type of roles given

whoa calm down a bit. of course she has a good body. that wasn't the point. some ppl think logically she is too diminutive w/ not enough musculature. no one is saying she needs to be linda hamilton. i simply think since her face is perfect for the role (at least it is in my opinion) - perhaps she can get her body more filled out to look stronger for the part. other actors do it, i'm sure she can too. as for the height - maybe she can wear REALLY built up shoes to make her legs look longer.

The face fits but not the body. How can KK have any muscle on her if she doesn't even have any fat. The girl weighs like 90lbs!!
I'm a fan of ST and I wish they would have chosen someone who was naturally more athletic. I'll still support the movie, but the choice doesn't fit.
