Going home is a short documentary style film, produced by Trucker Steve. http://www.truckersteve.com After spending a long time from home, i was inspired to make this film. It is really hard to be away from your family. People who travel for a living can relate with how i feel. I made this documentary to hopefully show those out there that are not familiar with the trucking lifestyle how hard it truly is. know of any companies that will run me only southwest?? my company loves to bounce me around the northeast all the time and i'm getting burned out and hating this line of work.. if i have to go to manhatten NY one more time i think i'll just shoot myself or drive of a cliff.. godbless and be careful.

Touching dude. For the last 25 years, I have spent most of my nights at home. It would be really hard to be away for 4 months. The story had me waiting for the end when you see your boy, then when you walk in the house with him. Really great work on your video.

that video was touching. its shows definatly what u look forward to going home for. i've been an otr driver for 5 yrs now. with 2 children and a fiance. the open road and being gone away from loved ones makes u definatly wonder if this job is really worth u being gone away from them.

this is an incredable video steve. It all comes down to you picking out the right music and showing what you deal with in your truck before you leave heading for home. Great and beyond awsome video steve. keep trucking

This is a special clip. In some ways, I envy the time you have to contemplate. I live in Geraldton Western Australia and when the children were babies and their grand parents lived in Melbourne we would drive there in the middle of the summer (back in 1987). To understand what that trip meant, you would have to have a look at a map of Australia. You would also have to look up the "Nullarbor Plain" in Australia and that is where the phrase "white line fever" comes from.

Back then, the road houses were one tank of fuel apart. We had two children in two years and the youngest was only a baby on the first trip. We would drive 16 to 18 hours at a time and sleep for 4. We managed fit a four to five day trip into approximately 3 1/2. we would stay for three weeks and then drive back. We did that for approximately 15 years straight. Then the cost of fuel meant it was cheaper to fly.

Friends insisted we were completely insane, but it is an experience that we will never forget. And we always look back on fondly. I understand that it is completely different to you driving without your family. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I suggest you look up the "Nullarbor plain" it is place I think you will find extremely interesting.
